Parish History

The humble beginnings of our parish and the journey of faith that shaped it.

1990

Formation of the Parish

A joint meeting on 11 December 1990 of members from three Bangalore Mar Thoma parishes led the Hebbal and J.C. Nagar prayer groups to initiate a new parish. With the blessing of Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, the Bangalore North Congregation was constituted; worship began at R.T. Nagar under Rev. M. S. Skariah.

1991

Independent Parish Status

A 110 x 65 ft plot was acquired on Kempapura Road, Hebbal, through Late Rev. K. Thomas, and a 22 x 40 ft chapel was built. The congregation was elevated to an independent parish on 1 August 1991, with Late Rev. K. Thomas as first Vicar.

Foundation Stone Laid

The foundation stone for the present church was laid on 8 May 1992 by Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa.
